Tour de Lyme

I wanted let everyone know what a great time I had at the Tour de Lyme. It was a challenging 56 miles, 4600 feet of climbing. After 20 miles in, I managed to meet a group of great folks. Some  of them recognized our Nerac Earth jersey and mentioned how much fun they always had at the ashford metric century! ! Maybe next year we can get a few club members down to Lyme Ct. And recruit some more folks. Now its on to my first Angel Ride! Hope to see some of you there..  — Todd ImageImage

Nerac Earth Announces The 6th Annual Ashford Metric Century

Nerac Earth, a nonprofit cycling club located in Tolland, is pleased to invite everyone to come out and participate in the sixth annual Ashford Metric Century, a fund-raising bicycle ride event to be held on Sunday, Sept. 29. The 10, 25, 62 and 100 mile routes travel through the “quiet corner” of northeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas in Massachusetts for the longer rides. The back country roads, stunning fall foliage and cool weather conditions make this a classic New England bicycle ride.

All routes are fully supported and there are multiple rest stops stocked with food, drinks and water. In addition, all pre-registered riders will receive a 2013 Ashford Metric Century t-shirt and after the ride, we will be serving baked potatoes with all the fixings and homemade apple crisp with ice cream. There will be free massages offered by CT Center for Massage Therapy to get you rolling again.

Saturday, August 24, 2013  9th Annual Hoosic River Bike Ride!

NEW THIS YEAR! A CENTURY RIDE & A NEW VENUE!

We’ll also have the very popular 75 mile, 50 mIle, 30 mile, and 7 mile ride.

All of our routes traverse primarily secondary roads with amazing views (Mt. Grelyock, Jiminy Peak), rolling farm lands, covered bridges, historic landmarks, and yes, even a (tiny) bit of hard-packed dirt (suitable for regular road tires). Our rides have familiar gorgeous views seen in past years, with new ones too! Our participants have loved the challenge of our routes and the novelty of having their workout catered, while visitors have seized upon the cultural opportunities – everything from world class art to great theatre and music – to make the ride part of a great getaway weekend!

Our new venue is the brand-new Williamstown Youth Center, 66 School St., Williamstown, MA. Each group of riders rollout together to start their chosen route. There are well-stocked aid stations. Routes are marked on the roads and cue sheets are available. EMT support is on the routes and at the registration area. Additionally, roving tech support is on each route. A complimentary tech check at registration is provided by Highlander Bikes. A wonderful post-ride picnic (with farm-fresh food) will start at 11:30 and run until 4:30 to help celebrate your day. We’ll also have massages provided by Tsubo Massage.
